My mother-in-law was born on Guernsey in 1920, here maiden name was Vesta de la Mare. Her father was Jean de la Mare, her mother Vesta Ward.
She was evacuated to the UK in 1940 and has been here ever since.
We would like to trace her ancestry on her fathers side, have you any tips on the best way to start?

4) Keep talking to me - cause one of the lines I've been tracing are the Jersey DE LA MARE's and they seemed to have done a lot of "island hopping"

I am searching for the VALLEE family, past and present. My gg grandfather Francis VALLEE, b. 14 Feb 1842 in France (town unknown); m. 22 Feb 1864 to Christina LIETCH, b. 16 July 1842 in Scotland (town unknown).

Their children:
Thomas VALLEE, b. 2 Apr 1865 (place unknown), d. 10 Mar 1940 (place unknown);
Francis VALLEE, b. 2 Dec 1866 (place unknown);
William Isidore VALLEE, my g grandfather, b. 2 Jul 1867, at Rue du Paraq, Port St. Pierre, Guernsey, CI. I have a copy of the register of births for him, pg.37,#193. He emigrated ca 1890 to the USA.
His father, Francis VALLEE died 29 Aug 1917, place unknown;
His mother, Christina LIETCH VALLEE, d. July 1912, place unknown.
